Magnesium, the eighth most abundant element in the earth's crust, is a light, moderately hard, silvery-white metal. While ingots of the metal tarnish in air and react very slowly with water, finely divided powder is very reactive. Magnesium does not occur uncombined, but is found commonly in magnesite, dolomite, and other minerals. It is the lightest of the structural metals, (a third lighter than aluminum) making it essential as an alloy in airplane and missile construction.
1. Magnesium powder can server as desulfurizer or cleaning agent for steel-making industry and casting of non-ferrous metals, and reducer for production of rare metal.
In chemical industry, magnesium powder can be used in as dehydrant for organic co-mpound or to directly make organic compound of magnesium.
In recent years, magnesium powder has been mostly used in spaying, coating, anti-crrosion, polycrystalline silicon, and casting of metallurgical powder as well.
2. The product has been widely used in the petrochemical ,pharmaceutical, metallurgy, aerospace, fireworks, food and other industry. It is mainly used as reducing agent and desulfurization agents in the manufacturing of flashing powders, lead alloys, new functional materials, desulphurizing pharmaceuticals and lighting pharmaceuticals.
Magnesium powder can be also used as oxidizing agent and purifying agent in steelmaking and non-ferrous metal casting, and as dehydrating for organic compounds.
Hot sale mg powder can also be used directly for organic compounds.
Use adequate ventilation to keep airborne concentrations low.
Exposure Limits CAS# 7439-95-4: Personal Protective Equipment Eyes: Wear chemical splash goggles and face shield.
Skin: Wear impervious gloves.
Clothing: Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin exposure.
Respirators: Follow the OSHA respirator regulations found in 29 CFR 1910.134 or European Standard EN 149. Use a NIOSH/MSHA or European Standard EN 149 approved respirator if exposure limits are exceeded or if irritation or other symptoms are experienced.
Imercaprol or BAL (British Anti-Lewisite) as a chelating agent should be determined by qualified medical personnel.
Fumes may cause metal fume fever, which is characterized by flu-like symptoms with metallic taste, fever, chills, cough, weakness, chest pain, muscle pain and increased white blood cell count.
